From the archives: Remembering Fairfield’s old Indian Summer Days

ajc.com

Indian Summer Days commemorated Fairfield’s rich Indian history and September’s seasonal change. These black and white photos found in the Journal-News photo archives show the event throughout the years.

The festival was started in the Hicks Manor Shopping Center in 1976. The following years it moved to Waterworks Park, then to the high school football stadium and eventually to the Village Green Park.

The parade opened the event each year with floats, bands and more. The festival had games, rides and live performances.

The last Indian Summer Days was held in 2008.
