In a news release, the sheriff’s office said detectives served a search warrant at the West Carrollton home of Madalyn S. Arnett, a Franklin High School social studies teacher in her first year with the district. She was arrested on a charge of sexual battery, a third-degree felony, and transported to the Warren County Jail in Lebanon.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
INITIAL REPORT
A Franklin High School teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday has been arrested and is scheduled to be arraigned this week in Franklin Municipal Court.
Madalyn Schae Arnett, 25, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night at her West Carrollton residence on a charge of sexual battery, a third-degree felony, according to booking information on the Warren County Jail website. She is scheduled to be arraigned at noon Friday in Franklin Municipal Court.
She is being held in the Warren County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
Arnett, a social studies teacher at Franklin High School, was placed on paid administrative leave on Tuesday for allegedly having inappropriate electronic communication with a student after district administrators became aware of the issue on Monday afternoon.
Superintendent Michael Sander told this news outlet that administrators learned of the allegation after the school day on Monday. Sander said administrators met early Tuesday morning to conduct an initial investigation of the allegations that prompted the teacher being placed on leave.
District administrators contacted Franklin police with their information. Franklin police turned the case over to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office after it was determined that the alleged communication did not happen in the city’s jurisdiction.
Arnett was hired in August as a social studies teacher, according to Franklin school board meeting minutes.
