Business is blooming at a new store in Olde West Chester.

Flower market and design studio KC Flower Farm recently opened at 8870 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, offering full-service floral design, from small bunches to big bouquets for any occasion.

Customers may order in advance with a specific vision of what they want or stop by the shop to pick out one of the store’s prearranged options, according to owner Kimberly Ceccoli.

The new business also offers a “flower bar” in which customers can pick fresh, seasonal flowers to make arrangements of their own, with prices according to the stem.

Ceccoli said she decided to open KC Flower Farm when she saw a "For Rent" sign in the old Thousand Words Photography lot while driving home from work one day.

“I took it as a sign from God, quit my corporate job and took a leap of faith to pursue one of my life’s biggest passions: flowers,” she said.

Ceccoli said she uses “very different” flowers than offered by most florists, growing 14,000 tulips, hyacinths, ranunculus and various other anemones for KC Flower Farm’s spring season. Other varieties of flowers will be grown in the fall.

“So I’m not just a florist, I am a flower farmer,” she said. “I am actually growing (the flowers).”

While Ceccoli, who grew up on a farm in Indiana, harvests flowers on a farm in Milford. She said she’s considering purchasing land in Butler County to cultivate her crop closer to home.

Olde West Chester, an area that is replete with salons, spas and boutiques, has always had a local florist but had been lacking one for the past several years, Ceccoli said.

“The location was exactly what I was looking for as far as the area’s comfortable hometown feel,” said Ceccoli, who has help managing the business from friend Lori Schutt. “The building was perfect for my product (and) the community has been very supportive.”

KC Flower Farm offers floral-arranging workshops, ladies night out event and do-it-yourself or traditional bridal packages with sit-down consulting and the store’s full-service floral team.

“We also offer bridal party packages in which parties can come in and create the table arrangements and bridal party bouquets for themselves before the big celebration,” she said. “That gives them the chance to spend time together while creating something beautiful with the help of our floral designers and some wine.”

Hours are 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For more information, visit www.kcflowerfarm.com or call 513-755-2595.
