Flub’s owner Brian Connaughton said it’s exciting to add another location and expand the ice cream shop’s presence in the Butler County community.
“We have had a loyal following throughout the area for more than 50 years and we are excited to share our delicious ice cream with visitors who will come to Spooky Nook from across the country,” he said.
This ice cream shop offers all kinds of sweet treats from soft serve and sundaes to banana splits, slushies, and 44 different flavors of the signature Cyclones.
Flub’s has locations in Hamilton across from the West Side Little League complex, Ross Twp. down Ohio 128 from Elda Elementary, and Fairfield across from Village Green Park. It also has a mobile ice cream truck that is at many community events.
Spooky Nook spokeswoman Mackenzie Bender said the addition of the Hamilton staple “is great news for the community and our future guests.”
“Construction continues on the facility as a whole, as well as on each of the tenant spaces,” she said. “Municipal Brew Works will likely be one of the first to open their doors to the public. The progress in their area is progressing extremely well, and we’re hoping to announce a more definitive timeline shortly.”
Municipal Brew Works owner Jim Goodman said the ice cream shop “will kill it at the Nook.”
“We believe in what Spooky Nook is doing with youth sports, conventions and local fitness,” said Goodman. “We visited and saw it work in Pennsylvania. We knew we wanted to be a part of it and offering our craft beer to visitors. We hope to help promote all of Hamilton, as well as our brand while at the Nook.”
Municipal Brew Works was the first tenant to sign with Spooky Nook in the spring of 2021. Goodman said they have had to delay the opening of the brewery at Spooky Nook due to electrical breakers needed to operate the cooler and brewhouse. He said it appears there is “a worldwide shortage” of electrical breakers.
But Goodman said they’re working on everything else they can, including with local vendors for the bar, lighting, and side bar. The side bar is made with timbers from the original Champion and Beckett paper mills, he said.
“We’re probably 80% complete,” he said. “Once the breakers are installed, we could open within two weeks of that.”
