Fairfield firefighters are continuing an investigation of a structure fire on Sunday afternoon that required assistance from three other fire departments.

Fire Captain Jim Howell said firefighters responded to a fire at 18 Peachtree Court about 12:38 p.m. that appears to have started close to an outdoor deck, went up an outside wall into the attic and burned the roof. The cause of the blaze has not been determined but was not suspicious.

He estimated damages at $100,000 and said the house sustained “substantial damage.”

Howell said one firefighter was transported to Mercy Hospital Fairfield for heat exhaustion but was treated and released from Mercy Hospital Fairfield. He said none of the occupants of the home were there at the time of the blaze.

Fairfield firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Hamilton, Springdale and Colerain Twp.
