The Middletown Fire Department responded to the scene with a ladder truck, two fire engines and a fire department SUV, according to dispatchers.
Firefighters within half an hour extinguished the blaze, which was isolated to the roof, caused approximately $50,000 in damages to the solar panels and building, according to Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Spaulding.
No one was injured during the incident and firefighters departed the scene at 12:01 p.m. Walgreens’ pharmacy reopened before noon and the store fully reopened around 2:30 p.m., according to Phil Caruso, a spokesman for Walgreens.
“We always want to ensure that out stores are safe, so we’re very pleased that no one was injured and we’re very grateful to the fire department for their quick response,” Caruso said.
