The people staying at the Budget Inn have been temporarily set up at the Fitton Family YMCA in Hamilton where the American Red Cross with the assistance of the Butler County EMA.
UPDATE AT 9:40 a.m.:
Fairfield fire investigators don’t yet know what caused a fire at the Budget Inn on Dixie Highway, but Deputy Fire Chief Randy McCreadie said it started around the area where the power enters the building.
“We’re not sure exactly what the cause is at this point,” he said.
About 50 to 60 people were in the building at the time of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

INITIAL REPORT:
The American Red Cross was called to the scene of an overnight blaze at the Budget Inn in Fairfield.
The fire broke out at around 3:15 a.m. today on the north side of the building at 4670 Dixie Highway. People reported seeing fire and smoke and an unknown number of people were evacuated, according to a news release.
There were no reported injuries and police and fire officials are reporting the fire was quickly contained to the exterior of the building.
