A fire Saturday on the roof of the warehouse portion of Akers Packaging Service Group in Middletown caused minimal damage, and there were no injuries.

Middletown crews and agencies responded to reports of the structure fire around 8:16 a.m. at the 1200 block of Enoch Drive.

The “fire started on the outside of the building and extended into the roof,“ said Assistant Chief Steve Ludwig. “There was minimal structural damage. It did not get into the building and effect anything inside.

“The building is still functional. But there will need to be some repairs,” he said.

He said the building is used for storage and can continue to be used for storage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
