DeeDee Ollis' two years serving on two Fairfield Twp. boards, and her dozen years as a Realtor, has set her up to succeed as trustee, the candidate said.

Ollis has lived in Fairfield Twp. for nearly 20 years and wants to do more for her community, which is why she's running against incumbent trustee Joe McAbee and former trustee Steve Morgan in Tuesday's election.

"I truly love and believe in our community and want to serve and lead in a greater capacity," said Ollis. "I bring a fresh perspective and a collaborative spirit."

Ollis said she's developed personal relationships and resources "to understand what drives families to and away from Fairfield Twp.

"As I currently do, prior to making decisions, I gather necessary and required information from many sources to make informed decisions," she said.

Ollis said she views the position as trustee as "a public servantry opportunity" and will be "an intricate vessel for taking the township to the next level." But that also means doing more with fewer resources, she said.

"Some of the biggest issues in our community are similar to what other Ohio townships face. Those issues center around funding," said Ollis, adding the township has received less money since former Gov. John Kasich slashed local government funding beginning in 2011.

"I intend to make sure Fairfield Twp. spends responsibly. I will do my due diligence for the residents, like cut any unneeded spending and find creative ways to save and build our assets."

Ollis said she will "never sacrifice our core services," such a police, fire, zoning and maintaining the township's roads. She also will work to encourage "appropriate" economic development and growth.

"Community development is vital," she said. "I want to build appropriate businesses and real estate growth for the community while preserving what makes Fairfield Twp. a great place to live and grow our families."

Ollis said a recent mission trip to Haiti had renewed her faith as she volunteers for a Hamilton retail store called Made to Love, where all proceeds pay for Haitian children to go to school, and Ollis sponsors two children at the orphanage called Destiny Village.

Ollis said her faith "drivers every decision" in her life, both personally and professionally, and believes she's "the best woman for the job."

"I have worked hard to build a reputation and legacy that is something to be proud of," she said. "My moral compass is centered in Christ. I want to be a light and a blessing for those whom I work with and serve."
