Fairfield Mayor Steve Miller, 52, said Dr. Goodman was his pediatrician until he was 18. He remembers Goodman’s trademark white lab coat that was covered with colorful buttons and pins earning him the nickname: “Dr. Stan the Button Man.”
Miller added: “He loved kids.”
Dr. Goodman served as physician for the Fairfield City School District and performed sports physicals for free.
“Everybody got to see Dr. Goodman,” Miller said. “He was a really good guy who cared about the community. He will be missed within this community. He was an incredible human being.”

Miller said he remembers Dr. Goodman making a Sunday morning house call when Miller’s younger sister, then 2 years old, was sick. He showed up carrying a black medicine bag.
“That’s old school medicine,” said Miller.
Roger Martin, Fairfield City Schools assistant superintendent, remembers Dr. Goodman’s work as a substitute teacher after he retired from medicine.
“He was a greatly respected substitute teacher,” Martin said. “He loved children and spent his life serving others. It was a great honor to know him. He will be missed by his wonderful family and all who are a part of the Fairfield community.”
