Fairfield has been named one of the best suburbs in the country, according to a new survey identifying the best communities in each state.

GoBankingRates.com recently released its list that identifies anywhere from one to five top communities in each state.

For Ohio, it listed suburbs in four metropolitan areas. Fairfield was listed for the Cincinnati region.

Fairfield ranked fifth for cheapest non-housing necessities. Bowling Green in the Toledo area and Mayfield Heights in the Cleveland region ranked second and fourth in cheapest non-housing necessities.

“Residents of these three suburbs pay under $17,000 per year, on average, for those things,” according to the site.

Pataskala is also rated as a top suburb in Ohio by GoBankingRates.com for the Columbus area.

Factors that went into the study include:

• Median home list price and median monthly rent (sourced from Zillow’s May 2019 index)

• Annual cost of groceries, healthcare, utilities and transportation (sourced from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2017-18 Consumer Expenditure Survey)

• Quality of school districts (sourced from Niche)

• Violent and property crime rates per 1,000 residents (sourced from Neighborhood Scout)
