Paula and Barry Faxon, with their daughter Carly Martin, formally opened the 20,000-square-foot expansion of the Ohio Valley Antique Mall near the city’s southern border along Ohio 4. There are more than 140 new booths added to the mall, which has around 400 booths in the 65,000 square feet of the original part of the mall.
The expansion was needed because the demand was great, said Martin, adding there were some dealers that’s been on the Ohio Valley Antique Mall waiting list for nearly two years.
“We knew we had to do something to satisfy the dealers who wanted to be in our mall,” she said, adding the mall is Cincinnati’s largest multi-dealer antique mall. “It is an honor there are people willing to wait to have a space in our mall.”
The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and city of Fairfield provided pomp and circumstance for the expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which Fairfield Mayor Steve Miller said the mall is “a very unique business.”
“I got to walk around (Sunday) and was really impressed,” said Miller, who plugged his sister’s business, Miller Street, that’s one of the new vendors. “You can spend hours around this place.”
Martin quickly quipped: “And that’s what we want.”
And the expansion fills another empty space in the Woodridge Plaza, said Fairfield City Councilman Bill Woeste.
“I’m just glad to see we’re filling up empty buildings here in Fairfield,” he said. “That’s always a good thing for the city of Fairfield.”
The Ohio Valley Antique Mall is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, which is located at 7285 Dixie Highway.
