The Greater Dayton Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice is planning a demonstration Saturday at a Confederate monument in Franklin.

The organization’s Facebook page said “the national network for the Movement for Black Lives has asked for national solidarity actions at sites that celebrate white supremacy.”

The organizers said they “plan to stand in solidarity with Charlottesville and stand against the white supremacist violence these statues and monuments celebrate.”

The SURJ organization is encouraging people to come with a personalized sign and said participants should be “ready to de-escalate as well as engage difficult conversations.”
