Joseph Davis, 17, died in a shooting Tuesday night at Woodlawn Avenue and Garfield Street in Middletown. A memorial was erected Wednesday morning at the site of the shooting.

A 16-year-old Middletown boy has been charged with murder and participating in a criminal gang for the shooting death of Joseph Davis, police told this news outlet.

Davis, of Middletown, was killed after suffering multiple gunshot wounds late Tuesday night, according to Middletown Police Major Scott Reeve.

The shooting occurred at about 11:45 p.m. at Woodlawn Avenue and Garfield Street, he said.

“We think this is an ongoing dispute with Joseph and his friends and another group of young men,” Reeve said, adding that the groups are feuding over territory.

The investigation is continuing, according to police.

“More arrests are expected for incidents leading up to this killing,” Reeve said.
