A Trenton woman said someone painted KKK and swastika signs this week on the side of her condominium at the corner of Third Street and Mars Drive.

She described the black, spray-painted messages as “not very nice.” She believes they may have been painted in support of the nine people who led a KKK rally Saturday in Dayton.

She contacted Trenton police and was told several other buildings in the city were “tagged” with graffiti.

Sgt. Jamy Chaney said there were three similar reports of graffiti in the city. She said the swastikas and racial slurs were reported on the side of the public works building, the playground and sidewalk at Babeck Elementary School, as well as the residents on Mars Drive.

Police are investigating but no arrests have been made, she said.

Gary Witt, owner of Witt Properties, which operates 52 apartment units in the area, contacted the woman and told her he’d use a power washer next week and remove the graffiti.

Witt said graffiti “devalues the whole neighborhood” and is a negative reflection on the residents.
