PREVIOUS REPORT: Franklin boy who was driving during crash to face assault charge
Franklin police said that at about 3 p.m. Jan. 4, the boy, then 14 years old, was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on East Second Street, failed to maintain reasonable control and struck a Mercedes work van, also headed west.
The teen’s vehicle then hit an Isuzu Rodeo SUV, seriously injuring the female driver as she was trying to turn right into Lee’s Famous Recipe.
Police said one of the vehicles spun and struck a power pole in front of the restaurant at 1031 E. Second St.

The police report said that unsafe speed and failure to control were contributing factors in the crash.
Three passengers — a 15-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy in the Toyota — were taken to a local emergency room with minor injuries, police said.
A Springboro woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

Judge Joseph Kirby ordered the teen, who had been on house arrest since January, placed back into custody at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
The teen was also ordered to participate in a placement assessment at Mary Haven Youth Center, a residential treatment center for youths.
