Student charged with Edgewood High School threat that caused lockdown to remain incarcerated

A 16-year-old Edgewood High School junior facing felony charges for a threat he allegedly wrote in a boys restroom will remain in the county juvenile detention center until his next court hearing.

The boy was arrested Friday after the incident Friday at the St. Clair Twp. school.

Someone wrote a message on a boys bathroom wall indicating the school would be “burned to the ground,” according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The threat caused a 50-minute lockdown at the school until deputies determined it was safe to resume classes.

The teen is charged with making terroristic threats. He appearing in juvenile court before a magistrate Monday morning, and there is a pe-trial hearing set for Feb. 22 before Judge Ronald Craft.
