A Preble County mother and her young child died Friday afternoon in a crash at Ohio 73 and Jacksonburg Road.

Alexa Perry, 25, and her son, Daxton Perry, 2, were killed in the three-vehicle accident that happened about 2:50 p.m., according to Butler County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kim Peters.

The husband and father Dalton Perry, 24, is hospitalized. His condition is not known.

Emergency units were dispatched at 2:49 p.m. to a report of a multiple-vehicle crash. Heavy damage was reported to the Perrys’ SUV and the semi-trailer was in a ditch.

FIRST REPORT: Multiple vehicles involved in crash in Wayne Twp.

A medical helicopter was requested and some have been transported by ambulance to area hospitals, including Atrium Medical Center in Middletown and Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center Liberty Campus in Liberty Twp.

The crash was at an intersection deemed one of the most dangerous intersections in the area. State transportation officials in April said it was the fifth-most hazardous rural intersection in Ohio.

The intersection is slated to have a roundabout installed by August 2020, which would cost $3 million, according to Wayne Twp. trustees.
