Middletown police were called to the 1500 block of Brown Street this morning on a reported shooting. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot that is believed to be self-inflicted, they told this news outlet.

“We are still trying to get to the bottom of it. We believe it was accidental,” said Middletown Assistant Police Chief Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said the incident is not related to the shootings Monday night on Crawford Street and Park Street that injured five people.

The man from the Brown Street shooting was taken to a local hospital by friend, who then left. Officers investigating the incident found the vehicle believe to have transported the man at Speedway on Breiel Boulevard.
