Police: Middletown man fatally shot in Hamilton

Police are investigating the death of a Middletown man who died at a hospital early Tuesday morning.

At about 5:10 a.m. Hamilton police were called to Bethesda Butler Hospital for a gunshot wound victim, according to police.

Brandon York, 30, of the 600 block of Concord Avenue in Middletown, died from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital. His death was ruled a homicide by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators determined an incident occurred in the area of 12th and Hanover streets in Hamilton. They are actively investigating the shooting as a homicide, according to Hamilton police officer Kristy Collins.

“The information that has been gathered shows that this was not a random act and everyone involved are familiar with each other,” Collins said in a press release.

An incident in the area of Vine Street on Tuesday night that involved the SWAT team is connected to the investigation, Collins said.
