Police: Man pays for beer and cigarettes, then tries to rob gas station clerk

A man walked into a Middletown gas station Tuesday night, paid for beer and cigarettes, then told the clerk to give him his gold bracelet, according to a police report.

When the clerk refused, the man said, “Give me your money.”

The clerk again said, “no,” and the man walked behind the counter and slapped the clerk, according to Middletown police. The suspect left the Shell station, 2411 N. Verity Parkway, around 9:30 p.m., according to police. No weapons were displayed, and there were no injuries, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard or mustache. He was wearing a black hoodie, blue or grey jeans, and Nike gym shoes.
