Police: Man admits to throwing, biting child

A 24-year-old man is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, after he allegedly admitted to throwing a 16-month-old girl to the ground twice and biting her on her cheeks, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Campus on Aug. 18 on a report that a 16-month-old girl had facial injuries, according to court documents. The girl needed stitches to her chin and had “severe bruises” on her face and chin.

During questioning, Nicholas Jones admitted to picking up the child by her abdomen and throwing her to the ground twice, according to the court documents. He also admitted to biting the child within the last two weeks.

Jones, at large, was arrested and transported to Middletown City Jail.

His bond was set at $60,000 Monday by visiting Middletown Municipal Court Judge Thomas Hanna. Jones will have his preliminary hearing Sept. 4, according to court records.
