Fairfield police want to question a woman in connection with the theft last month of a credit card from a shopper at Meijer.

But police need help to identify the woman who was pictured walking out of the South Gilmore Road Meijer after the alleged theft on July 27.

Police say the credit card was stolen from a purse of a shopper when she was distracted by a child asking questions.

“While the shopper is distracted, the adult steals the shopper's credit card out of her purse in the cart,” said police spokesman Officer Doug Day.

A female child and a teenage female were with the woman police want to question at the time of the alleged theft, according to police.

After the theft, more than $8,000 worth of gift cards were charged in two transactions in Colerain Twp.

Anyone who can identify the woman should call Fairfield police Sgt. Pete Lagemann at 513-896-8246. Calls can be anonymous.
