The complaint filed by Hamilton police alleges the 14-year-old conspired with the 13-year-old to bring the gun to school so that the older teen could harm another student. The 13-year-old was found in possession of a .22 caliber handgun.
The gun was found in a student’s locker, according to Hamilton School District officials.
In a letter posted to parents, Principal Jon Szary said, “A student informed a staff member there was the possibility that another student brought a gun to school. School officials and a school resource officer immediately investigated the incident and a gun was found in a student locker.”
“The Hamilton City School District places an emphasis on safety and security with every aspect of our school environment,” Szary said in the letter. “We commend the student who notified the Wilson staff about the possible threat and encourage you to continue to stress the importance of students reporting anything they perceive as a threat.”
