Police said Roesch was charged with murder after he stabbed and killed a Hamilton man after an argument about fireworks. But neighbors where the stabbing occurred said the altercation had nothing to do with fireworks.
He allegedly stabbed Carlton Brock, 41, of Hamilton, several times in the torso around 10:30 p.m. Friday, police said. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Middletown Police Maj. Scott Reeve said he hadn’t talked to the investigating detective so he wasn’t sure if a weapon was found.
Neighbors said Roesch and Brock were known to live in the area and Brock stayed in a detached garage on Arlington Avenue. They said there was an altercation after Brock was told Roesch was getting into the garage.
Angie Hall, who lives near where the stabbing occurred, described Brock as “a really good guy.” She said he wasn’t aggressive.
“He didn’t deserve this,” she told this news agency.
She said Brock, a native of Hamilton, had lived in the Middletown area for two months.
