Officials: Investigation into construction worker death in Hamilton could take months

One person died in a construction accident Wednesday morning on Eaton Avenue in Hamilton, according to police.

Sgt. Rich Burkhardt said a construction worker was hit by a construction vehicle and was killed. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was on the scene investigating.

Dispatchers received the call about about 6:54 a.m.

Eaton Avenue was closed much of the day between Mark Avenue and Haldimand Avenue due to the crash investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for today, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office. Police and the coroner’s office did not release the identidy of the victim on Wednesday, pending notification of next of kin.

An OSHA spokesperson confirmed an investigation is ongoing, but said no further information will be available until the investigation is completed, which could take six months to complete.
