Two Butler County teens were in juvenile court last week on charges related to two recent shooting deaths.

A 16-year-old who Middletown police allege pulled the trigger during a dispute over money in the shooting death of John Booker will be tried as an adult.

Jaiquan Singletary, 16, is charged with murder for the May 11 shooting of Booker outside a residence in the 1400 block of Yankee Road. Singletary was arrested along with an adult shortly after the shooting. On Thursday, Butler County Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Romans bound the case over to adult court for litigation after a probable cause hearing.

The teen has a juvenile record dating back to 2018 for misdemeanor assault, aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct and a probation violation in September 2019, according to court records. A Butler County grand jury will now consider Singletary’s case.

Dhameer Haamid Scott, 24, is charged with complicity to murder for the fatal shooting. Scott waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and his case was sent directly to a grand jury for consideration.

During the early-morning hours of June 9, Riah Milton was killed in what investigators say was an apparent robbery that went bad. Kaleb Marshall Tooson, 18, of Liberty Twp. was charged with murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery for the death of Milton. He is being held in the Butler County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond awaiting trial.

The incident happened at about 5:23 a.m. when a group met at Liberty Park in what investigators say was a plan for a vehicle theft. Detectives say Milton was “lured” to the location to be robbed. A fight ensued, and Milton was shot and killed on a nearby street, officials said.

Milton, 25, of Cincinnati, was found dead in the 6000 block of Spruce Creek Drive. The suspects drove away in Milton’s purple Camaro that was later ditched in West Chester Twp.

Prosecutors withdrew the complicity charges and the teen entered a “true” plea to tampering with evidence in Butler County Juvenile Court last Thursday.

Judge Kathleen Romans ordered she remain housed in the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center until sentencing on July 20.
