A 20-year-old Miami University student was charged with possession of controlled substances, a second-degree felony, after drugs were delivered to his off-campus residence.

Mathew Maliekal was arrested and taken to Butler County Jail. Further charges are pending laboratory analysis, according to a release from the Oxford Police Department.

He had his preliminary hearing, and his case was bound over to a Butler County Grand Jury, according to court documents

The Butler Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) taskforce, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the United States Postal Inspector conducted a controlled mail delivery and a search warrant on a package being delivered Monday to 320 N. Poplar St.

The package was suspected to contain approximately 509 grams, or half kilo, of MDMA (Molly), which is a purer form of Ecstasy, according to Oxford police. After delivery of the package, a search warrant was executed on the residence. Other drugs were located during the search of the residence, including marijuana hash from a butane extraction, LSD, additional MDMA, and marijuana packaged for sale.
