Deputies and detectives responded to the school and discovered that the suspect messaged both the teens in a chat on Facebook and sent a picture of a gun, according to the sheriff’s office report.
“The suspect then said he would shoot up their people and their block,” deputies wrote in the report. The suspect then sent a message he was outside the school waiting for them.
There was no direct threat made toward the school, and the suspect was not near the school, officials said.
During the threat investigation, detectives talked with a 15-year-old female student who said she had sex with her ex-boyfriend in New Miami and he provided her with alcoholic beverages.
Tyler Ray Caldwell, 21, of Cincinnati, has been arrested for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Tanner said he is also suspect in making the threats.

Deputies said the suspect is associated with a person the two teens had a dispute with and the messages were meant to to boost a fight within the group, according to Sgt. Ed Tanner.
New Miami initiated a controlled release of students as a precaution and for their protection.
“We take these situations very serious. The school did a great job and everyone acted quickly. The most important thing is that all those kids are safe and got home to their families,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
Tanner said the teens did the right thing reporting the incident to authorities.
“They were very scared about what might happen,” he said.
