Hamilton police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday they said is responsible for a shooting last week that killed a 13-year-old and injured another man.

Miquan Damartye Hubbard is charged with murder and is being held without bond in the Butler County Jail pending arraignment in Hamilton Municipal Court.
Hubbard was arrested Saturday in the 300 block of Hudson Avenue, according to police.
2. 2 OVI checkpoints result in multiple arrests
Two OVI checkpoints were conducted in Butler County on Thursday night — one in Liberty Twp. and one in Oxford.
Officers checked 818 vehicles at an OVI checkpoint on Cincinnati-Dayton Road just north of Ohio 129 in Liberty Twp.

Six drivers were arrested for OVI, two were arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, and one driver was charged with possession of marijuana, according to Lt. Clint Arnold, Hamilton post commander of the OSHP.
In Oxford, officers stopped 173 vehicles in the 5000 block of College Corner Pike (U.S. 27).
Two citations were issued for no driver’s license, and one citation was issued for an expired license plate, according to Pete Reising of the Butler County OVI Task Force.

3. Trooper cited in crash that backed up I-75 in Middletown
A trooper will be cited for failure to control his car after his cruiser went into traffic and was rear-ended, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened after a trooper passed truck tire tread in the middle of the roadway. The trooper went into the emergency lane so he could stop to retrieve it.
As the trooper was backing up, his cruiser went off the berm, which was a steep drop. The trooper jerked the cruiser back onto the pavement, when it went into traffic and a pickup struck the rear of the cruiser, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
4. Man appears in court after dead cats found in his freezer
Bond was set at $35,000 on Friday for a Middletown man accused of killing cats and storing their bodies in his freezer.

Edmund Cunningham, 24, of Roosevelt Boulevard, was charged with eight counts of animal cruelty last week after Middletown police found multiple dead cats in his freezer, according to Middletown Police Maj. Scott Reeve.

The charges are fifth-degree felonies.
5. Naked, bloody Monroe man with knife alleges rape
A Lebanon man remains in jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond, charged with rape, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to jail records.
John D. Handley, 31, was arrested on Aug. 20 at Trader's World in Monroe by Butler County detectives, according to Lebanon police records.
The charges stem from 911 calls on July 12 about a naked and bloody man with a knife, according to a search warrant affidavit.

In the affidavit, a detective alleges a Monroe man, 21, was found “with several injuries” at a downtown Lebanon restaurant and taken to Atrium Medical Center for treatment.
The Monroe man told police Handley had held him at Handley’s apartment on Warren Street in Lebanon for several days and raped him, according to a search warrant affidavit.
The Monroe man said “he was able to stop the attack by grabbing a knife and stabbing Handley,” then escape the apartment.
“Handley was found inside the residence with several injuries that appeared to be knife wounds,” according to the affidavit.
Handley remained in the jail after a scheduled court hearing last Friday.
