Mickey R. Murrill, 30, was found competent to stand trial Tuesday by Butler County Common Pleas Judge Charles Pater following a psychological evaluation ordered by the court.

But Murrill’s defense attorney Ramona Daniels, who has filed a not guilty by reason of insanity plea, has requested a second psychological evaluation to specifically address the insanity plea.

The second evaluation was ordered by Pater, who set Murrill’s trial for Sept. 24.

Murrill was indicted in February and has been held in the Butler County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond since then.

Murrill’s mother, aunt and grandmother, who declined give their names at Murrill’s arraignment, said he has suffered from head injuries and has tried to commit suicide in the past.

Murrill is accused of showing pictures of females with no pants on to a 6-year-old girl and then asking the child to pull down her pants, according to court documents.

During a search of Murrill’s apartment, detectives seized a laptop, a tablet, a flash drive, two SD cards and a camera. The electronics were analyzed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

During a Feb. 6 interview with detectives, Murrill told them that he had a spy camera in his residence that was made to look like a USB charger. According to court documents, Murrill placed a hidden camera in his bathroom and recorded a victim.

Murrill also had a recording of himself in sexual situations with minors and recorded a victim dressing to view her undergarments, according to the court documents.
