Fundraiser money stolen from home

Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of North Poplar Street at 10 a.m. May 8. A female resident there reported she had heard noises from the living room that she thought was her roommate but got no response when she called out.

She went to the living room to find a window open and the blinds broken. She closed the window but noticed the television had been moved and a photo album open on the coffee table.

She realized someone other than her roommate had been in there and then realized a box missing from the coffee table. The box had been used to hold money from a recent fundraiser.

The woman reported the box contained $623.

Detectives were called to process the scene and an officer checked the area and found a box similar to the one the victim had described in the trash behind the residence.

The woman identified it as the box she was missing and it was taken into evidence.
