Fire officials investigating after battling Hamilton blaze this week

Fire officials are continuing to investigate after firefighters battled a blaze Monday night at an abandoned Hamilton residence.

The Hamilton Fire Department was dispatched to 1318 Vanderveer Ave. about 7:75 p.m. and found flames and smoke visible, according to Chief Mark Mercer.

The house was not occupied and had not been for some time. Also there was no power to the house.

Mercer said the fire in under investigation, but said someone unauthorized was in the building.

There were no injuries and firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room.
