EXCLUSIVE: Evidence questioned in Fairfield teacher’s alleged sex crime
Conrad appeared in court Thursday with attorney Christopher Pagan and waived his right to a jury trial. That means Butler County Common Pleas Judge Keith Spaeth will hear the evidence and decide if Conrad is guilty or not guilty.
Spaeth questioned Conrad at length about if he understood the rights he was giving up. He answered loud and clear “yes, sir.”
Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Kelly Heile said during the short hearing that Conrad was offered a plea of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, but it was rejected.
Pagan had no comment after the hearing.

Conrad has been placed on administrative leave without pay by Fairfield City Schools, pending the outcome of the case.
The alleged activity happened between Conrad and a 16-year-old female Fairfield High School student between Aug. 16 and Oct. 9, 2016, according to the indictment.
Conrad is a Badin High School graduate and attended the University of Cincinnati. He has no criminal history.
The investigation began when Fairfield police were contacted by Butler County Children Services about possible illegal activity between a Fairfield High School teacher and a student. Police opened an investigation and advised school administrators of the allegations.
Conrad was hired by Fairfield schools on Aug. 6, 2015. He was also an assistant football coach, according to school officials.
