A Middletown apartment fire drew dozens of firefighters this afternoon.

Crews were called to the Olde Town Apartments on Park Lane about 11 a.m. on the report of the fire. In all, about 50 to 60 firefighters from 14 Butler and Warren county agencies responded, said Tom Snively, Middletown deputy fire chief.

When firefighters arrived, fire was shooting through the roof of the apartment complex, Snively said. He said the fire ran across the attic “pretty quickly” but it was stopped at the fire walls.

He said the cause of the fire is undetermined, and it affected about 15 to 20 apartments.

“We got a lot of work to do,” said Snively, who added he has “a general idea” of the apartment where the fire started.

He said there were no injuries to firefighters and residents and he credited Middletown police officers for helping evacuate the residents.

The American Red Cross is on the scene with a tent and water for firefighters and those who have been displaced.
