A busy day in court got off to a rocky start today in Butler County Common Pleas Court when the first defendant had some choice words for the judge.

Michael Anthony Gilmore II, 32, of East Avenue in Hamilton, who is facing seven felony drug charges, was at the podium with his attorney for a pre-trial hearing in Judge Keith Spaeth’s courtroom.

“I will (expletive) you,” Gilmore said to the judge as his attorney and prosecutor took care of paperwork that continued his hearing until April 29.

Those in the courtroom, including other defendants waiting their turn before the judge, showed shock. Some chuckled, but most shook their heads.

Spaeth said he took note of the statement, but said he was not going to do anything about it at this time.

Gilmore mumbled something about not being respected and he would take it to the “Supreme Court disciplinary counsel.”

Spaeth told Gilmore he was sorry if he had done anything to offend him and told him to do what he feels he should do regarding his treatment with court.

Gilmore was booked into the county jail on Feb. 21. At arraignment on drug possession and trafficking charges, his bond was set $175,000 by Spaeth.
