Dead dog found by Oxford police responding to shots fired

Oxford Police responding to a report of shots fired May 10 found a dead dog at a mobile home.

Tracy Robinson, 48, told police she placed her 3-year-old male beagle/chihuahua mix in its kennel and shot at it twice in an attempt to euthanize it.

The dog, she said, had bitten a female resident on the face and previously attacked her multiple times, according to the police report.

However, Robinson said her shots did not successfully kill the dog, according to the report.

Steven Robinson, 52, then used the gun three more times to put the dog out of its misery, according to the police report.

The gun, a .38 revolver, was photographed, and the shell casings collected as evidence from the mobile home in the 5200 block of College Corner Pike.

Both were charged with discharging firearms and released on their own recognizance.

Oxford’s animal control department was notified of the incident.
