Jones told the Journal-News his is sending a message.

“I hate a thief,” he said. “And everybody has been a victim of thieves. They are on porches stealing from people who work, not just here, but all over the country. I want people to be aware of it.”

He said the sheriff’s office has a fund for informants and rewards that is used often, but not always publicly.

“Some family member or somebody will turn him in for $500. They won’t for a $100, but they will for $500,” he said.

Jones said suspects drive around in neighborhoods when people are working and steal.

“They don’t care what is it is, sometimes it is life-saving medication,” Jones said. “I am fed up with it.”
