Butler man charged with 2 counts of unlawful sex with a minor

A Somerville man has been arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a third-degree felony, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Shawn D. Chadwell, 32, was questioned after detectives were notified by Butler County Children Services of a complaint that two juveniles had sexual relations with him.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was booked into the Butler County Jail at 2 p.m. today, according to jail records.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones said with school out because of the coronavirus, it could have been more difficult for the children to reach out for help.

“We have to stay vigilant on matters such as these to where children are heard and protected,” Jones said in a press release.
