Butler County woman suffers gunshot wound, transported by medical helicopter

A woman suffered a gunshot wound early today at her Morgan Twp. home, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and emergency medical units were called about 12:30 a.m. to the 6000 block of Layhigh Road on a report of a gunshot wound.

A 52-year-old woman said the shooting with a .38-caliber gun was accidental. She was shot in the lower stomach area, according to deputies.

The woman was transported by a medical helicopter that landed on Cincinnati-Brookville Road to a Cincinnati hospital for treatment.

Sgt. Kim Peters said an investigation determined the shooting was accidental.
