UPDATE: Crews pull injured boy from ravine at Camp Kern

UPDATE @ 4:12 p.m.:

It’s uncertain how a student on a class trip to Camp Kern fell into a six-foot ravine, but emergency crews eventually rescued the boy.

Turtlecreek Twp. crews had difficulty navigating the terrain to rescue the boy who apparently sustained a leg injury, according to initial dispatch reports.

Fire department officials did not know which school the boy attended, nor how he ended up stuck in the ravine.

INITIAL REPORT

A camper at Camp Kern in western Warren County has injured a knee, and emergency crews are working to reach him in a ravine, according to emergency dispatch traffic.

Just after 11 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the camp at 5291 Ohio 350 for a reported injured camper. Crews reported the camper is in a six-foot ravine, and they cannot get a vehicle to his location.
