Company acquires West Chester assisted living facility

Senior Lifestyle Corp. makes purchase for $13.6M.

A Chicago-based senior living company recently acquired two southwest Ohio facilities, including a more than $13 million sale in West Chester Twp.

Carespring Health Care Management — headquartered in Loveland — sold its Barrington of West Chester and Barrington of Oakley apartments to Senior Lifestyle Corporation, according to Kimberly Majick, executive vice president at Carespring.

“We wanted to keep our focus on the nursing home market; that’s our area of expertise,” Majick said. “We will still work closely with Barrington.”

The sale of Barrington to Senior Lifestyle Corporation — identified as SHP IV Barrington West Chester LLC — was completed around Dec. 20, 2012, for $13.6 million, according to the Butler County Auditor’s Office.

The four-story facility offers on-call assistance, maintenance-free living, fitness center, media room and community programming.

Majick said Carespring will continue to maintain operations at Heritagespring of West Chester — a 144-patient nursing home located on the same campus as Barrington of West Chester, 7222 Heritage Spring Drive.

Majick said the Barrington assisted and independent living facility has 105 apartments, with one- and two-bedroom options. She said occasionally a person living at Barrington may move into Heritagespring for a short period if there’s a need for intensive rehabilitation or treatment of an illness.

Carespring Health Care Management operates nine nursing homes, or “transitional care centers,” Majick said, including Hillspring of Springboro. She said the focus is often on rehabilitation and getting the patient back into their own home.
