In addition, it also has Butler residents traveling to surrounding counties to work at one of it 45 local stores, warehouse or home office locations.

With the company’s rapid growth, it’s now hiring in local communities across six states.

“In Butler County we’re adding entry level and experienced tire technicians, service technicians, salespeople and management trainees,” Murphy said. “We’d like to add another 10 teammates this year in Butler County. In addition to our store associates, we also have a distribution center and warehouse right down the road in Sharonville that’s hiring warehouse workers and local route drivers.”

We asked Murphy about challenges facing Tire Discounters and its vision for the next five years of growth. Here’s what she had to say:

Q: What’s the biggest challenge facing the company and others in the industry and how is the company uniquely positioned to address that challenge?

A: “Like many other industries we’re facing a shortage of trained service technicians. That’s why we offer our paid training program, Tire Discounters University. Our technicians don’t have to have experience to start, we provide all the training a mechanic needs to rise from entry level to ASE-certified master technician making over $100,000 per year including commissions. There’s no time constraints on how quickly you can move up. All you need is a desire to learn.”

Q: What’s the vision for the company’s growth, both jobs and otherwise, for the next five years?

A: “Tire Discounters is expanding their unique approach to tires and automotive services by adding stores in existing and new markets. We’ve doubled our size in the past 10 years and continue to expand the number of customers we serve. We’ve recently announced expansions in Huntsville, Ala., and Knoxville, Tenn. We’re also adding stores in our existing markets with new stores set to open in Louisville, Ky and Dayton this month. The next five years will bring expansion to more new markets. To support this growth, we will be adding both store associates and home office support staff.”

Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock you encounter when it comes to hiring and what can job seekers do to remedy that situation?

A: “Some job seekers are only focused on finding a job, but here at Tire Discounters we want folks to join us for a successful career. Jobs seekers should evaluate each potential opportunity for its long-term growth and earning potential in addition to the short-term increase in pay or benefits. They need to keep in mind that the road to their dream job isn’t always a straight line to the top, especially if you are switching careers from one industry to another.”

Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement within a company. To what degree can your employees advance from entry-level roles to be promoted to greater positions within the company?

A: “There are many ways to make a career at Tire Discounters. With our expansion into new markets and adding new stores, there’s no limit to where your career can take you. Tire Discounters is proud to promote from within, in fact, our company president, Jamie Ward, started as an entry level tire technician. With over 20 years’ experience as a valued employee, Jamie has had the opportunity to work as a technician and also in sales, operations and management. We believe that every employee has the same ability to progress their career. We’re looking for highly motivated sales people, management trainees and technicians of all experience levels.”
