“The name change is an outward symbol that we’re working together,” Richmond said.
The system, headquartered in Cincinnati, already operates under the “Mercy” name in five of its current seven markets: Mercy Health in Cincinnati, which operates Mercy Health — Fairfield Hospital; Mercy in Toledo; Mercy in Lorain; Community Mercy Health Partners in Springfield; and Mercy in Paducah, Ky.
The system also operates St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio and Humility of Mary Health Partners in Youngstown.
Mercy Health employs over 32,000 employees in Ohio and Kentucky. With $6 billion in assets, Mercy Health operates more than 250 health facilities, including 23 hospitals, eight senior living communities, five hospice programs and seven home health agencies, according to the system.
Over the next several years, the Mercy Health name will be phased into all system facilities. This allows patients to retain the trust, confidence and security they currently have in physician, hospital and outpatient facilities that have served their communities for more than a century, according to the health system.
In addition, the Ministry’s website will change to mercy.com.

The system incorporated in 1986 as Mercy Health Care System and changed its name to Catholic Healthcare Partners in 1997. The name was later shortened to Catholic Health Partners to reflect its growing emphasis on preventative care and overall wellness.
