Weekly reports that chronicle how Butler County residents have been impacted by the coronavirus show most people who contract the virus have recovered without needing hospitalization.

The Butler County General Health District releases a weekly epidemiology report that gives the essence of how the virus has impacted residents. As of Tuesday, there have been 29 deaths, compared to 24 a week ago, with 953 cases. The report shows both confirmed cases and suspected diagnoses. There have been 933 confirmed cases.

The report includes a caution that the true numbers likely aren’t reflected in the report.

“This should not be assumed to be the total disease burden of COVID-19 in Butler County,” the report reads. “Only those that have been laboratory confirmed cases or meet Ohio Department of Health probable case criteria and reported to Public Health.”

The state website has daily updates, it listed 32 deaths and 948 cases on Thursday. It also noted 167 people have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic in mid-March. The Butler County report shows since last Wednesday 8 people have gone to the hospital.

The median age is 44 for confirmed cases and 80 for those who have died. The new report shows almost 83 percent of the cases are people in the low risk category. The largest number of people hospitalized were in the high-risk category, which includes the elderly and those with underlying health issues.

The largest number of cases, 256, live in the 45014 ZIP code, which is largely Fairfield and includes parts of Hamilton and Ross Twp. The 45011 ZIP code, which is mainly Hamilton and areas to the north, has had 203 cases. There have been 126 cases diagnosed in the 45044 ZIP code which is the area from Liberty Twp. north to Middletown. West Chester Twp. residents with the 45069 ZIP code showed 117 cases. The rest of the county is showing double and single digits but every area has had at least one case.
