A gas station/convenience store and the Crown Palaza Banquet Center are located on the properties.
The annexation petition filed by the owners was originally submitted it to city officials on March 1. However, it was withdrawn so that the property owners could clarify some boundaries and map issues, according to General Counsel Sarah Fox.
Fox said the new petition was filed on June 27 with the Warren County Commission and received by the city on July 2. She said the new petition is similar to the original petition.
State law required the city to enact an ordinance stating what services it will offer to the annexed property within 20 days of the petition being filed. The city said it would provide police, fire, EMS, water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer to the annexed property. The properties are now under the city’s jurisdiction for planning and zoning and is subject to city property and income taxes.
Franklin Twp. Administrator Traci Stivers said she and other Warren County officials unsuccessfully tried to persuade the property owners to remain in the township.
