Beavercreek names new superintendent

Beavercreek City Schools has named its new superintendent.

Paul Otten, the Fairfield City Schools superintendent in Butler County, and former Fairfield City Schools assistant superintendent, will lead Beavercreek.

FIRST REPORT:

The Beavercreek City Schools Board of Education will vote on a new superintendent during a special meeting at the board’s office tonight.

The education board started interviewing candidates last month after the current superintendent, Bill McGlothlin, submitted his letter of resignation.

Finalist include:

  • Carl Metzger, the South-Western City Schools assistant superintendent in Franklin County and former Marion Local Schools superintendent in Mercer County;
  • Dean Gorrell, the Verona Area Public School District superintendent in Wisconsin and former Marshall Public School District superintendent in Wisconsin; and
  • Paul Otten, the Fairfield City Schools superintendent in Butler County; and former Fairfield City Schools assistant superintendent.

Finalist interviews were held the week of March 21. The new superintendent is expected to start in August.

McGlothlin cited retirement as his reason for wanting to resign. His last day with the district will be in July.

The meeting is at 6 tonight at the board of education offices, 3040 Kemp Rd., Beavercreek.
