Mission BBQ is set to open its first southwest Ohio location later this month.

The fast-casual restaurant will make its debut March 25 at 8655 Mason Montgomery Road in Deerfield Twp.

The restaurant's menu includes barbecue fare such as brisket, pulled pork, turkey, pulled chicken and sausage, plus ribs, chicken, sandwiches, salmon, salads and side dishes for dining in or to take out.

Mission BBQ was founded on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks by former Under Armour and Outback Steakhouse executives Bill Kraus and Steve Newton. The two men say their "mission" is to honor America's military, police officers, firefighters and first responders.

“We believe there is nothing more American than BBQ,” the company said in a news release. “And nobody more American than the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve Our Communities and Our Country. We do what we do for the love of our soldiers, firefighters, police officers, and first responders — all our loved ones in service.”

The two men traveled nationwide “from Texas to Kansas City, the Carolinas to St. Louis to discover the secrets of great BBQ.”

The walls of Mission’s restaurants are adorned with patches, pictures and other memorabilia donated by the local community. Every restaurant shuts down for two minutes at noon, makes an announcement and plays the national anthem.
