Community organizations have partnered with the Hamilton Police Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for an annual event that aims to create strong bonds between law enforcement and the community.

The third annual Rock, Roll, and Refresh event will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Booker T. Washington Center, 1140 S. Front St.

“It will be an exciting event that will bring the community around the center together with local law enforcement,” said Kim Strong Lytle, director of School and Juvenile Court Programs at Envision Partnerships, which is hosting the event. “We are expecting over 300 youth and community members at this event.”

The goal each year has been to create a stronger bond between youth, families and law enforcement by creating a relaxed atmosphere with food, music and game.

“About 20 Hamilton police officers and deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s office will be running the games and interacting with the kids,” Lytle said. “We expect it to be a great community event that brings local law enforcement, youth, and community together in a positive, fun, way.”

Some of the activities scheduled include:

  • carnival games
  • food/snow cones
  • face painting
  • performance by a magician
  • music
  • Hamilton fire truck on display

The event is free and open to the public.
