The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the accident that started outside Hamilton’s city lines on Old Oxford Road. The equipment landed across the street from Meijer, within city limits, according to Hamilton police.

Butler County dispatchers told the Journal-News the accident was reported just after 4 p.m. and involved two men who were riding on equipment described as a rubber tire roller. The large, damaged piece of equipment was in the grass in front of Skyline Chili, across Main Street from Meijer. A tire was detached, and debris was scattered in multiple places.
Dispatchers said Hamilton police and fire responded to the scene, as well as the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. The road was shut down for multiple hours, reopening at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Thirteen 911 calls were made to Butler County dispatchers. First impressions by witnesses believed both men were dead. Another said what they believed was a paver “came flying through the intersection; took out some cars. There was a guy on it. It’s upside down. I don’t know if it got loose, but we need an ambulance. We’ve got people down, bad.”
Social media posts show a fundraiser has been started for the family of Winkler.
